Beginner's Handbuilding

$250.00

Set in the beautiful tree studded greenery of the village of Emerald in the Dandenong Ranges, these 8.0 hour beginners hand building classes will introduce you to working with clay and glazing.

This is a two day workshop:

  • Day 1: Handbuilding

  • Day 2: Glazing

With a class maximum of 4 persons at the first workshop, you will explore the basic skills used for building and texturing objects by hand – pinching, coiling or slab work. At the first workshop, you will have an opportunity to explore what each of these techniques offer, either individually or in combination, to build an item of your choice.

The second workshop will be a follow up glazing session where you will be able to select engobes, oxides and glazes for your piece/s which will then be fired ready for either pickup or mailing the following week.

What will you make? Some ideas to think about are either a cup/mug, vase or similar small object. Feel free to bring an image of an item you might like to try.
